Limerick’s King John’s Castle will come alive this December with a series of festive performances supported by Limerick City and County Council, offering something for everyone in the beautifully appointed new Castle Suite overlooking the River Shannon. On Saturday, December 6th, 2025, Opera Workshop presents Opera & Carols, two enchanting concerts (3pm and 6pm) blending favourite carols, timeless songs, and opera highlights performed by acclaimed Limerick artists Róisín Walsh, Tríona Walsh, Sarah-Ellen Murphy, and Aoife Moran, presented by Shirley Keane. Families can join the fun on December 7th and 14th with *Open Door Productions’ Merry Mayhem, a brand-new Christmas adventure where audiences help find the missing Mrs. Claus, featuring Roisin Meaney, Aoife Hennessy, and Emma Ryan, written and directed by Margaret Hough. Rounding out the celebrations, the Castle Suite Sessions bring top Irish artists to the stage with Paddy Casey (Dec 6th), Mundy (Dec 12th), and Jerry Fish (Dec 13th), each performing at 8pm. Tickets for all events go on sale Friday, October 31st at 10am, marking the start of a magical month of music, storytelling, and festive spirit in the heart of Limerick.
