Dissonant progressive sludge from the south coast of Ireland. A great giant, Partholón was the son of Sera, the king of Greece. After becoming involved in a war of succession, he murdered his father and mother hoping to inherit their kingdom. In the act he lost his left eye and for his depravities a curse was put upon him: nothing he endeavoured would ever be successful. Believing he could outrun this curse if he went far enough, Partholón fled to Ireland, with his wife, three sons, and their tribesmen (Muintir Partholóin). He engaged in the first battle on Irish soil against the Fomorians. The warriors faced each other in the stance of power: standing on one leg, with one arm behind the back and one eye closed. This was the way to access the powers of the Otherworld. Partholón’s people defeated the Formorians and, for a time, they prospered. Partholón killed both his wife's dog and lover after tasting them on the lip of his cup. Partholón eventually died from plague but the Partholónians flourished for another 500 years until a great and terrible plague came and wiped them all out in 7 days, fulfilling the curse that had been placed on their leader so many years before. No King. No God, just life, and then, Death.

Instrumental three piece, signed to Majestic Mountain Records.

“Cambridge post-metallers The Grey make (largely instrumental) music that weighs down like few others - marrying the pummelling feel of a band like Neurosis or Karma To Burn, to big themes with striking nuance and colour. It’s truly awesome.” Kerrang

KODOK Recorded, Engineered & Mixed by Matty Moon (Lonely The Brave, Half-Ton) & Mastered by Dick Beetham at 360 Mastering (Enter Shikari, Drenge, Lower Than Atlantis, Sikth).

“Well-balanced between atmospherics and satisfyingly meaty riffs, The Grey are a distinctive and pleasing proposition”
