dREA

  • Dolans Kasbah 3-4 Dock Rd V94 VH4X Ireland (map)

dREA is bringing his new music on the road this winter;

dREA and his band are already confirmed for two shows this November, including what is going to be a magical date in his home city show. here at Dolans.

 The Night Sky, is now on release, and is already receiving local and national airplay, this is the first single from Damien’s new album, which will be released in the spring of 2027

 The Night Sky is a tribute to Damien’s former Vesta Varro band mate, Peter Forde. The lyrics speak about tragic loss; The Night Sky will bring you on its own journey of love, friendship and heartbreak while wrapping you in the most powerful of hugs.

 It has been almost twenty years since dREA’s final releases with the ridiculously good, Vesta Varro*; the Limerick based alternative rock band, who when formed quickly gathered nods of approval from the industry and their peers alike, not just here at home, across the world also; with Canada, in particular, taking the five-piece outfit under its wing.

A band where the deepest of friendships were held, not least between Damien and the band’s guitarist, Peter Forde, whose passing is the catalyst for The Night Sky, and to whom this song is dedicated.  The artwork accompanying this piece, was created by Peter and “it is a sincere honour to have his family’s blessing to feature it as the lead visual accompanying the release of The Night Sky.”  dREA says;  “…The song is about the lasting impact friendship can have on someone and connecting that loss with some truly relatable part of our world”. He continued, “I cannot wait to play this new group of songs LIVE with a full band, not solely for my fulfilment, but for those who supported us in our Vesta Varro days, for family and friends also from Limerick and especially, for Peter; I hope he would like The Night Sky; for me the song is for him and this alone will always make this a very special piece, for me.”

The Night Sky is the first of a few planned releases all of whom lead to dREA’s new solo album, expected for release in the spring of 2027.

With both his parents immersed in music it was no surprise, Damien’s life would centre around the industry also and indeed it has from many angels.. In the years since Vesta Varro’s final releases Damien released his own record, *2014’s “Bravest of All”, produced by Canadian producer Giuliano Baglioni (Daniel Lanois) and mixed by Kieran Lynch (U2, The Beautiful South, REM).

dREA (Damien), also completed a Masters in Music Therapy at University of Limerick and subsequently founder of Sanctuary Music Therapy.  Damien is qualified to facilitate and deliver both group and individual music therapy sessions and delivers music therapy for the HSE, for and with people experiencing mental health difficulties. This rewarding career has also afforded dREA the freedom to return to his first love; writing, recording and performing.
