Comedy KARLnival with Sean Hegarty & Diona Doherty

Tickets €7 in advance €10on the door

Tickets €7 in advance €10on the door

Sean Hegarty

Sean Hegarty is a man of many talents when it comes to the arts. A one-liner comedian from Lurgan, Sean has recently been seen wowing the judges on Ireland's Got Talent, making it to the live semi-final shows. As well as this, he recently won Ireland's Funniest Joke with his pizza pun topping the public vote.

Sean has racked up over 30 million views online and attracted more than 70,000 fans on Social Media along with sold-out shows around the country. He also played a starring role in hit BBC comedy series, Late Licence writing and acting alongside his wife, Derry Girls actress, Diona Doherty.

Diona Doherty

As seen playing Katya in Channel 4/Netflix U.S hit comedy Derry Girls, as well as Tracey in BBC improvised comedy Soft Border Patrol, Diona Doherty is fast becoming one of N.I's most recognizable faces on stage and screen. With appearances on BBC's Give My Head Peace as well as starring in upcoming Channel 5 comedy '247 Hours in A&E' her TV comedy CV is impressive. After performing sketch comedy on and off for years as well as three seasons at the Edinburgh fringe, Diona's shift into stand up comedy was a swift one. Diona's dry wit mixed with her dark sense of humor may be to thank for her TV successes and is certainly injected into her stand up comedy.

Tickets €14

Alison has appeared on television a few times, enough times for her mam to tell strangers that she works for RTE (she doesn’t), not enough times for her to get a free drink. She has appeared on Republic of Telly and RTE’s New Comedy Awards.

She was a team captain on a panel show for RTE 2 called Choose or Lose. A TV presenter for RTE’s coverage of Electric Picnic in 2015. A talking head on the year that’s in it. She has a new chat show called the Alison Spittle show with guests such as Tara Flynn, Aidan Power and Kevin McGahern.
She performed at the Vodafone Comedy Festival in the Iveagh Gardens and performed her show Alison Spittle Needs an Agent to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Dublin Fringe.

Her new show Alison Spittle discovers Hawaii had a full sell out run at First Fortnight and was nominated for two awards, Little gem award for best show under an hour and the first fortnight award for destigmatizing mental health.

She’s a regular columnist for headstuff.org and UCD university observer. Her article caused a kerfuffle, so much so she trended on Twitter in Ireland and appeared on Joe Duffy’s Liveline, guess which one impressed her mum?

Comedy KARLnival with Scott Capurro & Dan Hendricks

Tickets €7 in advance €10 on the door

Tickets €7 in advance €10 on the door

Scott Capurro

Scott Capurro was reared in San Francisco. At age 3, he swam the English Channel. Since 1993, he’s avoided AIDS by telling unsavory jokes in every English speaking country. Scott is trusting and thus surrounded by duplicity, yet he continues challenging himself, because he’s physically challenged and emotionally unavailable, aka married.

Described by San Francisco Weekly (free press, edited by lesbians and designed by trannies with large hands and hidden agendas) as “stand-up in the very best possible sense – deadpan, ever-alert and hilarious”.

Scott has appeared in Mrs. Doubtfire, where, effortlessly, he played a homosexual; and Star Wars: Phantom Menace, where, breathlessly, he wore a body stocking. A gay designer who sports two heads might’ve been a predictable sequel; instead Scott waddled off to the UK, in search of a compassionate, creative culture.

Disappointed and slightly bloated, Scott spends hours each day playing classical piano, conversing in French and managing his meds. He knows (wink, wink) several death row inmates and George Clooney. Well, he met George once. They’re both vegetarians. Actually, Scott is. Clooney said he was, to impress Scott.  Guys on death row eat anything.

“For a performer so vaingloriously poisonous, Capurro is the antidote to all those who attend stand-up knowing nothing about the act or expecting their world view to be reaffirmed. Buying his ticket, you’re agreeing to a tacit pact that the unsayable will be said” - The Scotsman

With support from Dan Hendricks

Dan Hendricks hailing from Clondalkin, Dublin, is a rising talent on the Irish comedy circuit and also enjoys being asthmatic.

Tickets €7 in advance €10 on the door

With his blend of cocky insults and slick banter, John Fothergill has the experience to know how to command an audience. You're always in safe hands when this lively Geordie's on stage, which is undoubtedly why he's so sought-after.

John Fothergill has slotted into the comedy circuit like a three pinned plug combining a unique style of embarrassing sexual revelations with a rural innocence

“Everything he says is funny….he looks like he was born onstage, under a follow spot, with a mic in his hand” - The Guardian

A wild woman of the Mayo hinterland, Christina McMahon escaped relatively unscathed from "The Convent" having developed notions of moving to Dublin to be an actress and comedian. She has since performed at clubs and festivals nationwide including Swell Fest in Donegal and the Bray Comedy Festival. Christina was also selected to perform at Electric Picnic in 2018 as part of the festival’s first all-female comedy line-up.

Comedy KARLnival With Damo Clark & Michael Downey

Tickets €7 in advance / €10 on the door

Damo Clark is an amazing high-octane observational stand-up with infectious energy and a childlike outlook which has audiences in hysterics from the get-go. This makes him one of the most uniquely entertaining acts on the comedy circuit.

He is the Aussie prince of the craic, performing rambunctious and uplifting stand up. He sets rooms on fire then puts out the fire because he’s also very polite and safety conscious.

You might have seen him on TV, he’s done loads of Telly, most famously he wrote & co-starred in RTE’s 2007 series I DARE YA!  - ‘Critics’ Choice’ - The Irish Times (which is a reputable newspaper), he was a regular fixture on RTE's IFTA award-winning Republic of Telly, and comedy panelist on TV3's The Apprentice: You're Fired! He also appeared on BBC3 & Comedy Central!

Now is the time to catch this raw talent as he stands on the cusp of super-stardom.

A Smash Hit’ – The Sunday Mirror

Michael Downey took an odd route to get here. He was a finalist in So You Think You’re Funny? alongside Alan Carr, Russell Howard, Miles Joop & John Bishop. Then: Car Crash, Hospital and Supermarket. He is back in action but these days he takes the bus.

Tickets €7 in advance / €10 on the door

Prop comic Spencer Jones was nominated for the lastminute.com Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2017, the same year BBC One piloted his sitcom Mister Winner. Sometimes performing under the alter-ego The Herbert, Jones was also a runner-up in the NATY new act competition in 2015. He has also had a recurring role in Ben Elton's Shakespearean sitcom, Upstart Crow.

Spencer Jones has built one of the silliest, most consuming shows of the Fringe.’ ★★★★★ Times

Richy Sheehy is a cool person and if you’re at least mildly attractive he would consider you as a potential object of lust. His unique blend of outrageous songs and stand-up comedy have garnered him a record breaking 12 ‘Richy’ Awards and 13 days in a minimum security prison. Born in County Cork, the greatest place in Ireland and the world, Richy recently returned home after a 5 year stint in hiding from the Gardai in a not so secret annexe in Amsterdam. He likes to spend his time split between his two favourite activities of enacting vengeance and writing about himself.

This year Richy shot to fame as Cork’s Biggest Liverpool Fan and since then he has performed live on Soccer AM, BBC Radio 1 and The Ray D’arcy show as well as playing to thousands at Liverpool’s Anfield stadium and selling out a headline slot at the O2 Academy in Oxford. Having recently performed in Tokyo, Richy can say he has performed in 2 continents including Asia, with the positive reaction assuring him he could achieve his adult dream of being ‘Big in Japan’.

Blindboy Podcast Live

Tickets €27

Blindboy's increased notability away from his band Rubberbandits, has allowed for him to explore wider avenues and create perhaps outrageously mind-altering brainchildren which can only be described as courageous, yet bonkers.

Now with an audience of over 1,000,000.00 people listening and a new show going live with the BBC early 2019.

With a number one selling book under his belt and a podcast that has reached interest not only in Ireland & Uk ….but internationally, the satirist could possibly single-handedly change people's mind set on mental health and the deafening stigma it surrounds.

Outspoken, informed and empathetic, Blindboy engages his audience with an unusual touch of realism. There is a very authentic feeling of "freedom" he  exhumes which allows his listeners and participants to openly speak their mind without judgement and no topic off limits - certainly an air of belonging encircling the space you find yourself in when listening or in company of Blindboy.

His latest innovative creation, The Blindboy podcast not only espouses mental health issues but reaches further into an eclectic spectrum of current topics from gun laws to feminism, racism or a bit of history. Blindboy has it covered.

His uncanny ability to articulate what nearly everyone is thinking is unparalleled and something that is sorely needed in Irish society.- The Daily Edge
