Limerick Jazz prsents The Kevin Brady Trio

One of the most interesting & unique jazz trios to have emerged in the last ten years is the International collaboration between Irish jazz musician Kevin Brady, U.S. pianist/composer Bill Carrothers & saxaphonist Seamus Blake.

Brady has many years of experience playing with some of the World’s leading exponents of jazz & improvised music. He has performed and recorded with Internationally renowned musicians such as: Larry Coryell (guitar) Lage Lund (Guitar) Peter Bernstein (Guitar) Norma Winstone (Vocals) Brian Charette (Hammond Organ) Ronnie Cuber (Saxophone) Perico Sambeat (Sax} Bobby Watson (Sax.) Randy Ingram (Piano) Ian Shaw (Vocals). He has also supported and performed on double-bill concerts with acts such as; Kurt Elling, Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters, Andrew Hill, Swedish piano trio EST & Soul legend Gil-Scott Heron.

Bill Carrothers is quite exceptional in this setting, having recorded with many acclaimed trios. Performing & Recording with luminaries such as Gary Peacock, Billy Higgins, Dave Douglas, Curtis Fuller. He recently performed a sell – out residency at the prestigious jazz club – The Village Vanguard. More recently he has been nominated for a French  Gramophone Award for his latest solo album release entitled ‘ Excelsior ‘ a collection of improvised piano pieces.

In 2016 the group released their latest studio album entitled ‘Ensam’, the record features original compositions by Brady and remarkable reworkings and performances of standards such as The Night we called it a Day & But not for me. The title track is a Swedish word meaning ‘Alone’, but this is not a ballad focused meeting, every song was designed to feature the musicians in various capacities, while trying to maintain a common theme throughout..

In 2019, the Trio will record their next studio album featuring U.S. Saxophonist Seamus Blake & will tour extensively with new music that embraces imaginative creativity and contributes to the evolution of stunning, surprising contemporary jazz.
