Regarded with awe throughout the music world Lee “Scratch” Perry holds status as one of the most enduring and original reggae producers and artists of all time. From his early days in Kingston Jamaica through to his production of some Wailers classics and lots more, Perry’s innovative style marks him out as one of Reggaes true originals. He’s worked with everyone form The Skatalites to The Clash and he can even be credited with pairing Peter Tosh with Bob Marley and The Wailers.
Sometimes credited with the invention of DUB his groundbreaking use of sound effects, echo reverb and rewind added a new dimension to Reggae. With thumping Bass and a tight knit backing band his live shows contain Bass heavy versions of classics such as “War Ina Babylon” “Chase the Devil” and even a lively version of “Exodus”. At the grand old age of 81 Lee “the Upsetter” Perry is still going strong, still touring Europe and beyond. Indeed he’s celebrating his 82nd birthday this time around. His Irish shows last year we’re all sell-outs this coming March should be no different.
